Military Machines, Equipment, Stories and History

Welcome to Khaki & Green.

I’m Daniel Harper, and I’ve been fascinated by military history, aviation and military machines and equipment for as long as I can remember. As a young boy, I was the kid who could spend hours reading about fighter aircraft, tanks, warships and weapons, building plastic models, and learning how these remarkable machines were designed, built and used. That curiosity has never faded.

Over the years, my interest has grown far beyond simply collecting facts. I’ve developed a genuine appreciation for the engineering, technology and history behind military equipment, and for the men and women who operated it. Every aircraft, armored vehicle and warship has a story to tell, and that’s what I enjoy sharing.

I also had the opportunity to serve briefly in the Australian Army when I was younger. While my military career was short, it gave me a greater appreciation for military life and reinforced my interest in the equipment, training and history of the armed forces.

Khaki & Green was created to bring together articles that are informative, accurate and enjoyable to read. While there is a strong focus on Australian military history and equipment, you’ll also find stories covering aircraft, armored vehicles, weapons and military technology from around the world. From iconic Cold War fighters and Vietnam-era armored personnel carriers to modern defense systems and forgotten pieces of military history, I aim to explore the subjects that have fascinated me for decades.

This isn’t an academic journal, nor is it a news site. It’s a place for enthusiasts—whether you’re a veteran, a modeller, a history buff, an aviation enthusiast or simply someone who enjoys learning about military machines and the stories behind them.

Thank you for visiting Khaki & Green. I hope you enjoy reading these articles as much as I’ve enjoyed researching and writing them.
